NDA1 Notification 2023

The UPSC released the NDA 2023 official notification on its website on the 21st of December 2022. This Exam is a national-level exam conducted twice every year by UPSC for recruitment into the Navy, Air Force, and Navy wings of the NDA. NDA 1 2023 will be held on the 16th of April 2023 this year. The application forms have been rolled out for the same. NDA is one of the country's most buzzing defense entrance examinations. This exam is carried out for admission to Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) and National Defence Academy.

NDA Full Form 2023

NDA stands for National Defence Academy. The National Defence Academy is a tri-service military academy that trains young aspirants of the three wings of the Indian Defence Service. Established in 1954, it is located at Khadakwasla, Maharashtra, near Pune. Candidates qualified for their 10+2 exam are eligible to train at NDA. But for this, they must clear the selection process, which is a written exam and SSB Interview.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the exam twice a year to recruit eligible candidates as officers in the National Defence Services. After qualifying for the selection process, candidates undergo training for three years. After completing their training, candidates are commissioned as Officers in the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

In the recently released notification for the NDA I Exam 2023, the UPSC has announced 395 vacancies. Separate vacancies are released for various services, and for males and females. NDA Eligibility Criteria 2023

In order to apply for the NDA 1 exam 2023, candidates must satisfy the minimum eligibility requirements as stated in the official notification. Only eligible candidates will be allowed to appear for the examination. These criteria are expressed in terms of 3 points namely, nationality, age limit, educational qualification, and others. Nationality 2023

The applicant must compulsorily be:

1. A citizen of India, or
2. A subject of Nepal, or
3. A person of Indian origin who has migrated with the intention of permanently settling in India from

In order to be eligible for the NDA I exam 2023, candidates must hold the following educational qualifications:

• For the Army Wing of National Defence Academy—12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination conducted by a State Education Board or a University.
• For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy—12th Class pass with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics of the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent conducted by a State Education Board or a University. Candidates who are appearing in the 12th Class under the 10+2 pattern of School Education or equivalent examination can also apply for this examination.

Age Limit 2023

Candidates applying for the NDA(I) 2023 should not be born earlier than 2nd July 2004 and not later than 1st July 2007. Candidates should note that only the date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination Certificate available or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will be accepted by the Commission and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted. Also, candidates should be unmarried and they cannot marry until the completion of their training period.

A candidate who marries subsequent to the date of his application though successful at this or any subsequent examination will not be selected for training. A candidate who marries during training shall be discharged and will be liable to refund all expenditures incurred on him by the Government.

• Weights higher than the acceptable limit will be acceptable only in the case of candidates with documented evidence of bodybuilding, wrestling, and boxing at the National level. In such cases, the following criteria will have to be met.

4.  All biochemical and metabolic parameters should be normal.

Indian Airforce Height and Weight Requirement for NDA (Female)

Female candidates aspiring to join NDA after the 12th must stick to the guidelines released by the UPSC. All height and weight requirements guidelines for female candidates who aspire to be part of IAF have been depicted in the following points and table:

 

• Weights below the minimum specified will not be acceptable.
• The minimum height requirement for the IAF flying Branch is 163 cm. Flying Branch also requires other anthropometric standards like sitting height, leg length, and thigh length.

Acceptable measurements of leg length, thigh length, and sitting height for such aircrew will be as under 

(a) Sitting height Minimum - 81.5 cm Maximum - 96.0 cm 

(b) Leg Length Minimum - 99.0 cm Maximum - 120.0 cm 

(c) Thigh Length Maximum - 64.0 cm

• The minimum height for entry into Ground Duty branches will be 152 cm. For Gorkhas and individuals from the North-Eastern regions of India and hilly regions of Uttarakhand, the minimum acceptable height will be 5 cm less (147 cm). In the case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height can be reduced by 2 cm (150 cm).

Indian Airforce Height and Weight Requirement for NDA (Male)

• Male candidates aspiring to join NDA after the 12th must stick to the guidelines released by the UPSC. All height and weight requirements guidelines for male candidates who aspire to be part of IAF have been depicted in the following points and table:
• Weights below the minimum specified will not be acceptable.
• The minimum height requirement for the IAF flying Branch is 163 cm. Flying Branch also requires other anthropometric standards like sitting height, leg length, and thigh length.

NDA Selection Process 2023

The candidates who wish to join the prestigious National Defence Academy will have to undergo an intricate process of selection. NDA Exam Pattern 2023

The candidates must understand the exam pattern in detail in order to prepare for the Examination. The examination pattern for both the stages of selection has been discussed below. Both the stages of selection will have two sub-stages. Each of them has been clearly explained in simple terms.

Written examination

• The papers will consist of objective-type questions only.
• The question paper will consist of two subjects i.e Mathematics and General Ability Test. The General Ability Test will consist of two parts i.e English and General Knowledge. The General Knowledge part will include topics like current affairs, history, general science, etc. This part will further consist of five different sections.
• Each paper will have a duration of 2.5 hours.
• The maximum marks will be 300 and 600 respectively.
• For every wrong answer, 1/3rd marks will be deducted.

SSB examination (Intelligence and Personality Test)

The SSB exam will further consist of two stages i.e. Stage I and Stage II. In this stage, the overall personality of the candidate is judged. This is done by three people i.e The Interviewing Officer (IO), Group Testing Officer (GTO), and the Psychologist. The tests taken in the SSB are taken to figure out the presence/absence of Officer Like Qualities and candidates' trainability. The two stages of the SSB Examination are as follows.

Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception * Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on a combination of performance in the OIR Test and PP&DT.

Stage II: Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and the Conference.

The SSB interview is 900 marks and the total marks including the written test and the SSB Interview are 1800.

List of guidelines that should be followed during NDA 1 Exam 2023:

• Candidates must bring their NDA Admit Card or else they won’t be allowed to enter the exam hall.
• Candidates can bring one photo-identity evidence in addition to their admit card.
• Carry a clipboard or hardboard and a black ballpoint pen.
• Within the examination center, no books, notes, loose sheets, electronic or other types of calculators, mathematical and drawing instruments, log tables, stencils of charts, slide rules, test booklets, or rough sheets are permitted.

NDA Salary 2023

The Union Public Service Commission's Official Notification for NDA 1 Exam 2023 will contain an extensive salary structure. During the training cycle, the Cadets will be paid a fixed stipend of Rs. 56,100/- for the duration of their training in service academies (i.e. during their training period at IMA). The pay in the pay matrix of the Officer commissioned shall be set in the first Cell of Level 10 after a good training. The Pay scale will differ from one post to another and will be mentioned in the official guidelines.

After getting commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army and equivalent ranks in the Air Force and Navy the salary of the officers is fixed as per the first Cell of Level 10. Step 4: Take a look at the result sheet. Candidates who have been chosen for the SSB Interview/Test are entitled to participate.

Step 5: Save the result for future reference as well and take 2-3 copies of the result.

NDA Merit List 2023

Once the exam is over, the UPSC will announce the 2023 NDA 1 final merit list, which will include a list of applicants who qualified for both the written and SSB interviews. There would be an aggregate or qualifying mark that must be met in order to qualify. The NDA 1 Merit List for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force will be released separately.
