SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam - Overview

After passing the SSC CHSL Tier 1 exam, candidates will sit for the SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam, which is the final round. Two sessions—Session I and Session II—of Tier II will occur on the same day. Sections I, II, and Module I of Section III will be conducted during Session I. Module II of Section III will be conducted in Session II. Session 1 will be 2 hours and 15 minutes in total, including Mathematical abilities, Reasoning and General Intelligence, English language and comprehension, General awareness and computer Knowledge Module. Candidates must go through the detailed SSC CGL Tier 2 2023 Overview tabulated below.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 

• Session I and Session II of the SSC CHSL Tier 2 will be held on the same day. Sections I, II, and Module I of Section III will be conducted in Session I. Module II of Section III will be conducted in Session II.
• It will be mandatory for the candidates to qualify all the sections of Tier II.
• Except for Module II of Section III, which is a skill test, questions in SSC CHSL Tier 2 will be of the Objective Type and Multiple Choice. 
• Except for Module II in Section II (the English Language and Comprehension module), the questions will be in English and Hindi.
• For each incorrect response in Sections I, II, and Module I of Section III, there will be a -1 mark deduction. Therefore, it is essential that candidates remember this while they respond to the questions.
• The Computer Knowledge Test, which is Module-I of Section-III, is qualifying nature and hence mandatory.
• A qualifying skill test or typing test will be conducted after the completion of the session I 
• For the DEO/DEO Grade 'A' position, Part A is the skill test: Based on correctly entering the words and key depressions according to the passage, the Data Entry Speed of Eight Thousand - 8000 Key Depressions per Hour on the Computer will be determined.
• Part B: Typing Exam for Other Positions, Including LDC and JSA: Candidates choosing the English medium should be able to type 35 words per minute (w.p.m. ), while candidates choosing the Hindi medium should be able to type 30 words per minute (w.p.m.). In terms of key depressions per hour, 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m. represent approximately 9000 and 10,500 key depressions per hour, respectively.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Skill Test

The skill and typing test will be conducted in Session II of Module II of Section III on the same day. A skill test or typing test will be required for qualification. The Skill Test's errors will be calculated to two decimal places. The following procedure will be followed when conducting the skill test or typing test.

 Data Entry Operator - Skill Test

 Part A - Skill Test for DEO/DEO Grade 'A' Position - 

• Data Entry Operators must take a skill test. The Skill Test is mandatory for all candidates.'Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (Eight Thousand) Key Depressions per Hour on Computer' will be graded based on correct word/key depression entry as per the supplied passage. 
• The Test will last 15 minutes, and each candidate will be handed printed material in English, including around 2000-2200 key depressions to type into the computer. The computer screen may also display the passage to be entered into the computer.
• Candidates who apply for scribe will be awarded 5 minutes of compensatory time. As a result, the duration of the Skill Test for such candidates will be 20 minutes.

Lower Division Clerk (LDC)/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) - Typing Test

Part B - Typing Test for other posts i.e. LDC/ JSA -

• The typing test will be conducted in either Hindi or English. Candidates must select the medium of the Typing Test (Hindi or English) on the online Application Form.
• The candidate's selection of Typing Test medium in the online Application Form will be considered final, and no changes to the medium of Typing Test will be considered subsequently.
• Candidates choosing the English medium should be able to type 35 words per minute (w.p.m.) and candidates choosing the Hindi medium should be able to type 30 w.p.m (w.p.m.). Approximately 10500 key depressions per hour and 9000 key depressions per hour, respectively, can be calculated from 35 w.p.m. and 30 w.p.m.
• The accuracy of typing a specific text passage on a computer in 10 minutes will be used to measure the speed.
• Candidates that apply for scribes will receive 5 minutes of additional time. As a result, the typing test for these candidates will last 15 minutes.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Negative Marking Criteria

The official notifications contain information about the updated exam pattern and marking scheme. The SSC CHSL 2022 exam has negative markings on both tiers. Tier II will penalise students by deducting one mark for each incorrect response in Sections I, II, and Module I of Section III.

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates are required to score minimum marks to be eligible for the next round. In order to meet the qualifying criteria, general category applicants have to score 30 per cent, Other backward class (OBC) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) applicants have to score 25% and any other category needs to score 20%. The following are the minimum qualifying scores for Tier I, Section I, Section II, and Module I of Section III of the Tier II Examination.

Resolution of Tie Cases in SSC CHSL Tier 2

If there is a tie in the applicants' scores for the Tier-II exam, the merit will be decided by applying the following factors, one by one, in the prescribed order, until the tie is broken:

• The marks earned in Section I of the Tier II exam.
• Birthdate, with older applicants being ranked higher.
  • list of the candidates' names in alphabetical order

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Date

On December 6, 2022, the Staff Selection Commission published the official SSC CHSL 2022-2023 notification online at ssc.nic.in. The Tier 1 SSC CHSL 2023 test will be held in February or March 2023. (tentatively). After the Tier 1 exam, the SSC CHSL 2023 Tier 2 exam notice will be given. The SSC CHSL Tier 2 exam date will be announced later.

What Next After the SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam?

• If multiple shifts are used for computer-based exams, applicants' marks shall be normalised using the formula provided by the Commission in The final merit and cut-off marks will be determined using these normalised scores.
• After the test, the Commission will release preliminary answer keys for the computer-based exam on its website. On payment of Rs 100/- each question, candidates may review the answer keys and submit any online arguments they may have within the time frame specified by the commission. 
• Before finalising the Answer Keys, any representation regarding the Answer Keys submitted via the online modality within the time frame established by the Commission at the time of uploading the Answer Keys will be examined, and the Commission's decision in this regard will be binding. No other modalities, such as a letter, application, email, etc., will be accepted as representations on the topic.
• The results of any stage or Tier of the test cannot be reevaluated or checked a second time. In this regard, no correspondence will be taken into consideration.

SSC CHSL Document Verification Process

The User Departments/Organizations will conduct Document Verification (DV) after the announcement of the final result in view of the Government's decision to speed up the recruiting process. At the time of document verification by the user departments or organisations, candidates must present copies of the various documents listed below.

1. Secondary Certificate.
2. Certificate of Educational Qualification.
3. If a candidate is claiming a specific qualification as an equivalent qualification, the candidate must submit an order or letter in regards to the claimed equivalent educational qualifications, indicating the authority with the number and date under which it has been treated, in regards to the equivalent clause in the essential qualifications.
4. Caste/Category Certificate, if a member of a protected class.
5. Persons with Disabilities Certificate, if applicable, in the necessary format.
