The SSC Stenographer Exam 2023 will be a two-tier exam. Tier I will include an online Computer Based Test (CBT) and Tier II will be a shorthand skill test. SSC Stenographer Syllabus Tier I

SSC Stenographer Syllabus Tier II
Candidates who are able to qualify the Tier I CBT Test will further be moving to the next stage, that is Tier II. The SSC Stenographer Tier II Exam is a skill test round which is of a qualifying nature. Candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi as opted by the candidates in the online application form at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern Tier I
The SSC Stenographer Tier I Exam consists of three sections- General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. The SSC Steno Tier I exam will be an online Computer Based Test (CBT) of 200 marks, each question carrying 1 mark. The other relevant details are listed below.
- For every correct answer:1 mark will be awarded.
- For every incorrect answer: 0.25 marks will be deducted.
- No marks will be awarded for unattempted questions.
- Total time duration for the 200 marks paper will be 2 hours.
- 40 minutes extra will be given to the candidates with benchmark disability.
- Marks scored by the candidates will be normalized and the final merit list and the cutoff list will be published accordingly.

SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern Tier II
The Tier II Exam is for those who qualify for the Tier I CBT Exam. Tier II will be a skill test where candidates will first have to write a passage on any given topic in 10 minutes at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. After that candidates will transcribe the same on the computer within the allotted time. We have shared both the time and exam pattern for writing the dictation as well for transcribing the dictation.
- The language of the dictation (passage writing) will be both English and Hindi.
- Candidates will have to select the preferred language while filling out the form.
- Candidates who opt to take the Stenography Test in Hindi will be required to learn English Stenography and vice versa after their appointment.
- The Skill Test will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or at other Centre(s) as may be decided by the Commission.
- The Skill Test will be qualifying in nature.
