- According to the SSC JE CE exam pattern, there shall be two stages of selection, namely a Written Exam and Document Verification.
- As per the notification, stage 1 (Written Exam) comprises two parts; Paper I and Paper II.
- Candidates will have to qualify for all selection stages in order to be considered for the SSC JE CE Job Profile.

SSC JE CE Exam Pattern 2023
The SSC JE CE Syllabus and Exam Pattern highlights the pattern that the written exam follows, such as the marking scheme for each question, duration of the exam, and so on. Check the exam pattern detailed below:
- Subjects 1 & 2 of Paper 1 are the same for all the candidates.
- For Subject 3, a candidate has to choose his/her subjects from Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical.
- In both papers 1&2 for General Engineering, a candidate will be required to attempt only the part as per the option given in the application form.
- In Paper 1 there will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
- Paper 2 will be descriptive and will be conducted in pen and paper mode.
- In Paper 2 a candidate has to choose his/her subjects from Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical.
- A candidate will be allowed to bring his/her own slide rule, Calculator, log table, and steam table for Paper 2.
- There will be no negative marking in Paper 2.

Document Verification
After qualifying for the exam, all the candidates who will be called for documents verification round will be required to produce the relevant certificates in original, failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by the Commission.
