SSC CGL Highlights and Notification

SSC CGL Exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission is one of the toughest exams in India. A national-level exam, it is conducted to recruit candidates in the various offices and departments under the Government of India. It is a graduate-level examination that is conducted in four phases, Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and Tier 4. While the first two tiers are Computer-based examinations, Tier 3 comprises a Descriptive Paper and Tier 4 is a Computer Proficiency or Skill Test.

Tier 1 has been made qualifying from this year. Final merit would be based on the marks obtained by the candidates in SSC CGL Tier 2, 3 and 4 examinations. The primary duties of a candidate recruited for the various posts under the SSC CGL exam include, providing assistance in the Audit process, data entry and processing, recording transactions. Assessing the payable Income Tax for various salary bands, preventing invasion of excise duty, preventing forgery, etc.. These responsibilities vary significantly from one post to the other.

17th February 2023: SSC CGL Notice for Tier II Exam

SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria 2022

SSC CGL is a graduate level examination conducted by the SSC every year. Candidates intending to appear for SSC CGL 2023 cycle should check out the complete eligibility criteria before filling out the application form because the inability to meet the eligibility requirements can lead to disqualification of candidature. All the candidates are required to meet the following minimum requirements in order to appear for the SSC CGL exam:

Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

Educational Qualifications

  • (A) Assistant Audit Officer/AAO (Assistant Accounts Officer) - Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute.
  • (B) Junior Statistical Officer - Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at 12th standard. OR Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
  • (C) All other Posts - Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University.

Age Limit

The age limit varies for different posts and according to categories of people. The SSC has recently increased the age limit for SSC CGL 2022 recruitment. The minimum age limit has been relaxed from 20 years to 18 years and the maximum age limit is set at 32 years for the unreserved category. Relaxation in the upper age limit has been given to reserved categories, the details of which have been shared further in the article.

  • Sub-Inspector in NIA (National Investigation Agency)

Step 2- Fill the application form with required details i.e Personal, Educational, Post Name, etc.

Step 3 - Upload scanned photograph and signature as per requirements mentioned in the official notification.

Step 4 - Preview and verify the information provided by you and Submit the Application.

Step 5 - Take out the Print Out of the Application Form for future reference. Note: Use a valid email ID that should be kept active till the declaration of results. You should keep a scanned photograph and signature ready as per the requirements mentioned in the official notification. By following these above steps, you will be able to submit your SSC CGL Form successfully.

SSC CGL Application Status

Once candidates have applied for the SSC CGL Exam. Candidates must go through the application status .
  • The commission updates the application status on the website for all the eligible candidates.
  • Once the candidates have applied for the application they can check their SSC CGL application form status from the SSC's website.
  • The information to check the application is released on the website.
  • The board has released the region wise application status ,candidates are advised to check the region wise application status to which they belong using the direct links given below.
  • Candidates are required to enter their SSC CGL Registration Number, Date of Birth or Candidate's Name and Date of birth to check the SSC CGL application form status.
 

SSC CGL Application Fee

  • The SSC CGL application or registration fees for SSC CGL exam is Rs. 100/- for male candidates belonging to UR and OBC category.
  • SC/ST, Differently abled, ex-servicemen and female candidates have been exempted from application fee.
  • You have to pay the application fee via Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking. You can also pay the application fee via offline mode only through challan of SBI. You have to make the payment at designated branches of SBI within the working hours of the bank up to 27-01-2022 provided the challan has been generated by them before 26-01-2022 (23:30 hours).

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

The SSC CGL Selection Process is based on two stages -
  • Tier-I (Computer Based Exam)
  • Tier-II (Computer Based Exam)
The SSC CGL New Exam pattern of all the stages is mentioned below. Go through the Tier-I, Tier-II exam pattern given in detail to prepare accordingly for the selection process.

Stage 1: SSC CGL Tier 1

  • It is a computer-based online test of 200 marks in 60 minutes of time duration. There is a negative marking of 0.50 Marks for each wrong answer. There is no sectional cut off.

Stage 2: SSC CGL Tier 2

  • The Tier-II will be held in a separate shift(s)/ day(s).
  • There are 3 papers in the SSC CGL Tier II.
  • Paper I is compulsory for every post.
  • Paper-II will be for only those candidates who apply for the posts of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) in the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation
  • Paper-III will be for only those candidates who are shortlisted in Tier-I for Paper-III i.e. for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer.

Other Allowances and Benefits provided to SSC CGL Employees

House Rent Allowance(HRA)

HRA is provided to the employees to meet their house rent needs. House rent allowance varies according to the city and is classified into 3 categories. HRA shall not be less than Rs. 5400/- pm, Rs. 3600/- pm and Rs.1800/- pm at X, Y & Z class cities respectively.

  • 24% of Basic pay for X category of cities
  • 16% of Basic Pay for Y category of cities
  • 8% of Basic Pay for Z category of cities

HRA shall be revised to 27%, 18% & 9% of Basic Pay in X, Y & Z cities when Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses 25% and further to 30%, 20% and 10% of Basic Pay in X, Y & Z cities when DA crosses 50%

Dearness Allowance (DA)

The Dearness Allowance is a cost of living adjustment allowance and is currently 17% Of basic Pay under the 7th Pay Commission. The union cabinet has increased the DA to 17% in October 2019.

Transport Allowance (TA)

The rate of transport allowance per month various according to the place you are living in as mentioned below:

  • Employees posted in the cities: Rs.3600
  • Employees posted at all other places: Rs.1800
