SSC CGL Salary - Allowances and Benefits

The SSC CGL employees are entitled to House Rent Allowances, Dearness Allowances and Transport Allowances as follows:

House Rent Allowance(HRA)

House rent allowance varies according to the city and is classified into 3 different categories. HRA shall not be less than Rs. 5400/- pm for X category cities, Rs. 3600/- pm for Y category cities and Rs.1800/- pm for Z category cities.

• X category of cities will get 24% of Basic Pay.
• Y category of cities will get 16% of Basic Pay.
• Z category of cities will get 8% of Basic Pay.

The House Rent Allowance will be 27%, 18% and 9% of Basic Pay in X, Y & Z cities when Dearness Allowance (DA) crosses over 25% and then to 10%, 20% and 30% of Basic Pay in Z, Y and X cities when the DA crosses 50% threshold.

Dearness Allowance (DA)

The Dearness Allowance for the candidates will be 17% Of basic Pay under the 7th Pay Commission. The DA was increased to 17% by the union cabinet in October 2019.

Transport Allowance (TA)

• Employees posted in the cities: Rs.3600
• Employees posted at all other places: Rs.1800

Special Security Allowance

>In case the candidate is working for some special organization, such as CBI, IB, or any Security agencies he will be provided with an extra 20% of Basic Pay as Special Security Allowance (SSA) in their gross pay.
