Important points:

• Prefixes like - Mr/Shri/Dr/Mrs/Smt/Prof/Capt/Maj/Lt/Col., etc. should NOT be used.
• NO change can be made in the application form after the payment of the fee. So, make sure that all the details are correct. If everything is as per the guidelines, only then the application form will be accepted or else rejected.
• After the candidate has filled the application form, they have to upload the scanned copy of the photograph, signature, and category certificate (if applicable) as per the specifications by the exam conducting authority.
• Colored passport size photo of dimension: 3.5 cm Width × 4.5 cm Height with white background is required for the GATE Application Form.
• Draw a rectangular box of size 2 cm × 7 cm (Height × Width) on an A4-sized white paper and sign with a black/dark blue ink pen within this box. The signature should occupy 70~80% of the box size. File size: 10 kB (minimum) - 200 kB (maximum). You can crop the image and signature as per dimensions by using the testbook photo resizing tool.
• The PwD/ Dyslexic candidates are allowed to avail scribe assistant CS for the GATE 2023 examination.
• The candidate will be intimidated about any errors found in the GATE application, which has to be rectified within the given period of time. This will be done via e-mail and/or SMS.

Application Fee for GATE 2023

GATE CS application fee is different for Indian and Foreign exam centers. Below mentioned is the application fee for the exam center of GATE in India and for the exam center outside of India. The application fee can only be paid through online modes like internet banking, visa card, etc.

GATE CS Selection Process 2023

The candidates will have to appear for an online examination. Only successful candidates will get called for document verification. GATE CS is a 1 stage exam only. Successful candidates equal to the number of seats available will be taken in on a first come first serve basis. There shall be no interview. Hence the candidates will have to undergo only a Written exam. The GATE selection process is based on the result or scorecard released by the authorities for admission to M.tech programs in IITs. After the answers are concluded, the GATE Score is normalized. Further, Institutes are alloted for admissions with the normalized GATE Score/Interview + normalized GATE score.

GATE CS Exam Pattern 2023

The GATE Computer Science exam is online. It is a computer-based test (CBT). The questions paper will have a mix of numerical answer test (NAT) and multiple choice questions (MCQ). The detailed GATE CS exam pattern is discussed below.

• Candidates are asked 65 questions over a duration of 3 hours.
• There is a negative marking of 1/3 rd for 1 mark MCQ questions.
• There is a negative marking of 2/3rd for 2 mark MCQ questions.
• The GATE exam consists of a total of 100 marks.
• There is NO negative marking for a wrong answer in MSQ and NAT questions. However, there is NO partial credit also.
• GA questions carry a total of 15 marks which includes 5 questions of 1 mark and 5 questions of 2 marks each making the total of 15 marks.
• Question paper will have 25 questions carrying 1-mark each and 3 questions of 2 marks each.
